• The Art of UNIX Programming by Eric Raymond - If you do a Google search for "hacker", Eric Raymond's article on How to Become a Hacker is (often) the first result. He is one of the original UNIX gurus and has tons of interesting things to say about UNIX culture and the benefits of running *nix.
